Our season has presented a few moments that will go down in history as defining our promotion efforts, but for Kemar Roofe, as per quotes by Leeds Live, there is one low blow that sticks out more than any other.

The fan favourite striker has shared that our defeat on the road to Queens Park Rangers in February has helped to shape our quest for promotion, more so than any other fixture, as it acted as a fierce reminder there are no easy games.

At the time of our trip to Loftus Road, we had the chance to go three points clear of Sheffield United in the race for second, but failed to capitalise on our game in hand, and were forced to play catch-up.

Thankfully, we have now been able to put the Blades back in our rear-view mirror, even after two slight blips, and have Roofe back in our ranks, after he missed the midweek defeat through injury.

And now, as we prepare to face the relegation-threatened Wigan, Roofe has looked back on the defeat to QPR, fully aware the Latics will not roll over for us.

“I don’t think there’s any easy teams or any easy games in this league at all,” he said. “We’ve lost against teams people think ‘oh yeah, we’re gonna win’. QPR for example.

“I don’t think anyone maybe expected that, but we lost and next game we bounced back. Every game it’s that game and that game only. You just have to focus on that.

“At this time of the season, it’s important for everybody. Everyone’s fighting for different things. People are fighting for automatic, Play-Offs, survival. For us, last season, we got to the point where we wasn’t fighting for anything and everyone just kind of lost interest a bit around the city.”

That is not the case anymore, though.

“You’re walking down the road and someone’s waving at you and wants to stop you and talk to you and say how amazing it is,” Roofe added. “Sometimes, when you’re playing, you’re in the bubble, you’re in tunnel vision, you’re just focused on what’s going on.

“You don’t know what’s happening in the stands, what people are actually thinking about you. When you get stopped it is nice.”
