Explained: When could Pablo Hernandez return for Leeds United?

|

Pablo Hernandez will miss Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday, but the Leeds United forward is hoping to return within two weeks. Hernandez has been out of action since mid-September, missing their last five Championship outings.

The 34-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating four goals. Hernandez’s last outing for Leeds came against Derby County (September 21), but he should be back in November if all goes well with his rehabilitation.

Hernandez told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I try to push in the training ground to come back as soon as possible. I know that the most important thing is if I come back it is at 100 per cent to help the team. I’m working hard. I hope in the next week or next two weeks I can get ready to play for the club.”

Leeds’ fixtures in November

  • 2/11/19 (Championship): Leeds United vs Queens Park Rangers
  • 9/11/19 (Championship): Leeds United vs Blackburn Rovers
  • 23/11/19 (Championship): Luton Town vs Leeds United
  • 26/11/19 (Championship): Reading vs Leeds United
  • 30/11/19 (Championship): Leeds United vs Middlesbrough

Two weeks from now would see Hernandez in line to feature against Blackburn, but it’s more likely he’s 100% to face Luton after the November international break. In the Spaniard’s absence, Marcelo Bielsa has turned to Helder Costa. He’s failed to score or make an assist since August, however.

Leeds come into Saturday’s meeting with Sheffield Wednesday off the back of two wins and a draw from their last four games. Victory at Hillsborough could see United go top if West Bromwich Albion lose to Charlton Athletic.
