Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has already had his say on the punishment handed down to youngster Jordan Stevens for betting offences, but the 19-year-old can now get himself back on track as he returns to training after his ban.
Bielsa Addresses Recent Leeds Controversy & Makes The Correct Point
With plenty of Leeds fans, and opposition fans for that matter, expressing their surprise at what was deemed to be an excessive punishment in relation to the ‘offence’ he actually committed, well liked journalist Phil Hay brought the debate back on Friday as he confirmed the ban was now at an end.
Jordan Stevens is back at Leeds United after his betting offences and everyone agrees that he deserved to be punished. But was a complete exile from the club for six weeks the right way to treat a 19 year old?https://t.co/mFGrUTUoRc

Hay is certainly on board with Bielsa’s thoughts, and the thoughts of most fans but hopefully, it was just a daft mistake that won’t be repeated. Given the dominance of betting in football though, it’s understandable as to why so many fans feel there must be a better way to approach punishment given how stringent the rules are.
He deserved to be punished but surely some of that punishment should have been some education about gambling and addiction awareness, not leaving the poor lad all on his own,I’d have sent him to work at a gambling addiction centre or something

You don’t need to ask the question Phil. Ridiculous punishment for a kid who needed support.

Can’t do that to a young lad. Ban him from playing but you can’t stop him turning up to train.

Use it as the fire in your belly now kid and go out there and smash it.

Punished yes, exiled no.
Other more experienced people, including a manager, have recieved LESS recently

I think you have answered your own question Phil. Inappropriate and not supporting a young footballer needing guidance.
