There were some negatives to come from Leeds United’s Championship clash against Queens Park Rangers, but the positives for most fans far outweighed those.

Individual performances from many players, the rare appearance of a penalty and a refereeing decision in our favour – on top of that there was the performance of youngster Jamie Shackleton who again impressed many with his showing at right-back.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate has long been highly rated at the club, and he’s featured pretty regularly for manager Marcelo Bielsa in the season of 2018/19, making ten appearances in total for us so far this campaign.

With Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling all out injured and continuing their recoveries, Shackleton is certainly doing all the right things to make the position his own, at least for now.

As the above comments imply by fans who took to social media to praise his efforts, they certainly couldn’t find fault.

He won’t suddenly become an ever-present, especially when others are back and fit, but it’s certainly going to do his development the world of good as we look to the future.
