Embarrassing moment is a fine example of us needing to bite our tongues a bit more

|

The international break is underway and England play later this evening against the Czech Republic in a EURO 2020 qualifier.

There will be hopes that the Three Lions can win the competition outright – but the plan first has to be to qualify.

That should be easy enough but, as Scotland have shown, there are plenty of slip-ups waiting – if you’re that bad of course.

They lost to Kazakhstan yesterday afternoon – no, really – and many of us were watching on thinking that they could have done with Liam Cooper at the back.

It was embarrassing for the Scots, and when they didn’t call-up Cooper we were quick to let them know what a mistake it was, rightly.

Perhaps, though, we should just have kept quiet because, eventually, the Tartan Army are going to realise that they need him and we’ll get proved right anyway.

In some ways, though, I hope he doesn’t get called up because we need him fit here.
