“Desperate” Leeds – Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds’ weekend chances

|

After a short break in play, Leeds United are ready to get back to business with a win over Bolton Wanderers, and Sky Sports pundit David Prutton expects the Whites to be “desperate” to return to a top two birth.

Having sat out last weekend due to Queens Park Rangers’ progress in the FA Cup, Marcelo Bielsa’s men had to watch on as Norwich City and Sheffield United usurped their efforts to leap ahead, albeit having played a game more.

We get our chance to move back level on games played when we eventually travel back down to London on Tuesday, but top spot is still achievable come Saturday afternoon – depending on results elsewhere.

QPR aside, Bolton should not put up too much of a threat to Bielsa’s XI moving on to 64 points, with Phil Parkinson’s outfit currently holding the fourth-worst defensive record and the Wanderers have lost their last four visits to Elland Road.

Add to that the break in fixtures United are coming off, Prutton is confident that the Whites will be victorious at full-time.

“Leeds will be well rested after ten days off, which is an awful lot in this league, believe me,” Prutton said. “In that time, though, they have seen Norwich and Sheffield United climb above them, and they will be desperate to force their way back into the top two.

“Bolton present them with a great opportunity to do just that. They were completely outclassed by Norwich last weekend, and you would fancy Leeds to do a similar job on them. [3-0] Home win.”
