Deal agreed for defender’s Championship move

According to the latest news from Sky Sports‘ Transfer Centre, Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is set to complete a move to Luton Town that would see the 21 year old spend the rest of the 2022-23 season at Kenilworth Road.

Vital Leeds has discussed the well-documented reports that the young right back was seeking a switch away from Elland Road during this transfer window as a result of a lack of opportunities in head coach Jesse Marsch’s first team.

Drameh had been linked with potential moves to a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Premier League side Newcastle United. Speculation that he could return to Cardiff City also circulated, after a successful loan spell with the Welsh side last year and being named as the clubs Young Player of the Season for their 2021-22 campaign.

But it now appears as though Luton Town will be Cody Drameh’s destination this month, with a loan move agreed between the Whites and the Hatters.

Since leaving the Fulham academy for a move to Elland Road in 2020, Drameh has made just 8 first team appearances at Leeds. Competition is already strong in the right back position, with Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen dominating the Premier League minutes this season.

Considering there had been plenty of rumours that a permanent exit was on the horizon for Cody Drameh, it is good to see that no decision is being rushed. A loan move seems like the right call for the club in the current transfer window, giving time to assess the right back role and Drameh’s future at Leeds later in the year

Luton currently sit 7th in the Championship table. They are only outside of the playoff positions on goal difference, so there is a chance for him to play some very meaningful football in the coming months. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with the latest around Drameh and his progress.
