‘Clearly like marmite’ – Some Leeds fans discuss if initial criticism came too early

Loads of Leeds supporters loved Kappa’s design for our centenary season home kit, but the pink and grey away shirt received wide-ranging criticism with fans slating the move away from the club’s traditional colours.

Many felt the Italian sportswear brand responsible for our strips should have used blue or yellow for the away design, which instead took on a different colour palette as the club sought to attract a younger audience.

Managing Director Angus Kinnear confirmed the club’s intentions with the design recently, and stated that two more kits are on their way to celebrate our 100th anniversary.

However, some Whites supporters on Twitter have been discussing if the initial opposition and criticism of the pink and grey design came too early, now that fans have been given time to see the strip in action against Bristol City and Salford City.

Some still have their objections to the kit, with suggestions of the blue and yellow goalkeeper strip being a far more appropriate design for our centenary season. But there are some who think the grey and pink is ‘brilliant’ and that it was a great decision by the club to sanction Kappa’s move away from our traditional colours.
