Yesterday evening Leeds United confirmed the capture of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ fullback Barry Douglas.

The 28-year-old Scotland international has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road and the fee agreed has been stated as undisclosed. The rumour mill has it as being between £3million or £5million – either way it’s an absolute steel.

His performances in his maiden year with Wolves saw him gain his first Scotland Cap and as they stormed to the Championship title and promotion into the Premier League, he scored five times and contributed 14 assists.

You only have to glance across the reactions of Wolves fans and their disappointment at seeing him move on to know the kind of quality we’ve just picked up and it’s certainly boosted dampened spirits in the fanbase given how quiet our summer has been on a transfer front so far.

He is our first permanent capture of the transfer window and it’s hoped he won’t be the last.
