Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino says he would only sell Ross McCormack to a big team and not another team from the championship.
There has been much speculation about McCormack already this summer after he led the way in the Football League last season with 29 goals in all competitions.
Fellow championship sides Fulham and Cardiff City have been linked with a move for McCormack recently but Cellino says he does not need to sell the Scottish international but he couldn`t stand in his way if a big club became interested.
Speaking at the press conference today to announce the arrival of Dave Hockaday as new first team coach, Cellino told the press, “He`s a talented player so I couldn`t tell him no, stay at Leeds.
“If he gets an offer from a big team then we should give him the chance to go. But the teams who`ve asked for McCormack are from the Championship.
“Why should I sell McCormack? We are not desperate to sell him so why should we? If I needed money, I would tell you frankly – I need money, I have to sell, I`m not ashamed. McCormack is a matter of principle, not money. He`s a beautiful player and he`s staying at Leeds.”
McCormack is contracted to Leeds until 2017 having signed a new deal at Elland Road last summer.
