‘Can see it working but also going terribly wrong’ – Many Leeds fans have been discussing Bielsa’s weakness

Losing to Brentford has put more than a dent in our efforts to secure automatic promotion, as Sheffield United could all but secure second place by the time we kick off against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Fans on the R/LeedsUnited Reddit page even feel Marcelo Bielsa made a grave error at Griffin Park that came back to haunt us, and some are suggesting the boss must correct that at the weekend.

Not every supporter is as keen to see Bielsa rush a change to his tactics, though, but the predominant feeling is that the Argentine missed a trick in his team selection on Monday, as the warning signs were already there.

The main decision supporters feel the boss got wrong was by selecting Patrick Bamford to lead the line against the Bees, rather than handing Kemar Roofe his first start in attack since we lost to Norwich in February.

Bielsa’s tactics also came under some criticism, with supporters considering our continual intent to cross the ball into the box puzzling when we often do nothing with the chances it creates.

Not that we are fairing much better with shots in general, however, as we have fashioned 113 shots in our last five games, and yet just 27 have been on target, and from those only four have resulted in goals. That’s an appalling conversion rate of just 3.5%.

If we do miss out on automatic promotion, it will be down to our inability to get the ball over the line as much as anything else. And when supporters took to Reddit discuss a change in the starting XI, this is what was said…
