It was certainly nice to see Luke Ayling back on the field of play over the weekend as he put in a decent first performance after injury.
We’ve certainly missed his presence at the back this season with our defence often short of organisation and a person willing to shout and be vocal.
A clean sheet was recorded with him back in the side, though, and after the game the following morning he had this to say on Twitter:
Never thought I would wake up and enjoy having a dead leg π€¦πΌββοΈπ… great feeling getting back out there again.. disappointing and frustrating season for me and everyone at the club but we will come back stronger.. fans this year have taken it to the next level ππΌππΌ #mot

There’s been plenty of reaction to this on social media, then, so let’s have a look at what some of our fans said:

This guy needs to be captain. You see when Ryan came on he was the first player to wrap his arm around him and speak to him.
No one did that when Paudie scored that own goal. #lufc

Great to have you back Luke. While you were out injured we went from playoffs to 14th with 3 wins from 21 games. First game back and it's a win with a clean sheet! Coincidence? Don't think so! Please stay fit for next season! #MOT

The Verdict
It was great to see the right-backΒ return to the side.
We look a more solid outfit with him in the team and I just hope that he doesn’t get any more lengthy injuries that ruin his season.
Meanwhile, it’d be also nice if he managed to wrangle something with Kyle Bartley.
