‘Better and better’, ‘excited yet terrified’: Some Leeds fans react as winning ways continue

The first team wins, the women’s team wins and now the youth sides win too.

A very successful weekend for everyone at the club by the looks of it.

Leeds United’s U23s took on Millwall’s U23s yesterday at Thorp Arch as Carlos Corberan as they kicked off the defence of their PDL Title.

The game ended in a 3-2 victory for the home side, however a lot of the attention in the build-up to the game surrounded just how strong a team Leeds’ U23s were putting out. It gathered particular attention because A) there were a few names who you’d think are pretty much nailed on to be first-team players and B) they have got a game against Brentford coming up in two days’ time, so was it really the best idea to give them a runout?

Leeds took the lead just before half time through Pascal Struijk and doubled their lead in the 56th minute as substitute Eddie Nketiah slid in to score his second goal in a week, although a few people were more impressed with the buildup than the finish.

Leeds were pegged back to 2-2 though with goals from George Alexander and Billy Mitchell but a free-kick by Matueusz Bogusz right at the death saw them take the three points.
