‘Without a doubt’, ‘No question’ – Many Leeds fans discuss Bielsa’s plan for rarely-seen ace

Many Leeds United supporters have been discussing if it is time for Marcelo Bielsa to hand Eddie Nketiah his Championship debut in the starting eleven to face Brentford, when Pontus Jansson makes his return to Elland Road on Wednesday night.

The Arsenal loanee was omitted from Carlos Corberan’s first Under 23s starting line-up of the campaign on Monday, as the Whites fielded a strong youth side for the Professional Development League curtain-raiser against Millwall at Thorp Arch.

Helder Costa, Jack Clarke, and Ezgjan Alioski were named in Corberan’s squad as he bids to defend the youth title, though, meaning it would be unlikely that either are drafted into the midweek starting XI when the Bees travel to West Yorkshire.

But fans have been discussing if Nketiah should be, with the rarely-seen striker only awarded 78 minutes of senior action for United since his Deadline Day transfer, as he continues to get up to speed with Bielsa’s system and forge a connection with Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison, Mateusz Klich and co.

Bielsa has never been one to chop and change his preferred line-up since his appointment to the Elland Road helm last summer, either, with the boss favouring a continual reliance on certain players to get the results needed, even when questions are raised over the fitness of the selected players.

Patrick Bamford is giving the Argentine head coach no reason to change his attacking options, as well, with the Grantham-born forward boasting three goals in three Championship games after netting a brace in Saturday’s win over Wigan Athletic.

The 25-year-old should now be brimming with confidence ahead of the visit of Brentford, and be ready to put Jansson to work to ensure his return to Elland Road sees the Sweden international given no easy ride.

Here’s who these fans feel Bielsa must favour as our striker against the Bees…
