Beren Cross: Leeds have made it abundantly clear where they stand on Marsch

|

According to the sports writer for LeedsLive Beren Cross via his Twitter account, The Whites have made it clear where they stand on Jesse Marsch.

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has had an indifferent time at Elland Road since his arrival, having steered the club away from relegation, he was backed in the summer with a squad overhaul. However, losing Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips would have been a blow to his plans. Marsch then added some of his targets and started to make the team his own whilst trying to bring in players able to adapt to his style as soon as possible.

Summer arrivals added some much-needed squad depth and the fans felt the side was capable of a mid-table finish this campaign, if not better. So far, things haven’t gone as anticipated and now the Whites are again, sitting precariously outside the relegation zone.

That being said, the club has backed Marsch again in this transfer window, showing they are clearly behind the American and have faith in the process he has projected at Elland Road. The funds were made available to spend on Maximilian Wober and Georginio Rutter, and now it seems another huge sum to spend on Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, with the spending set to continue further.

A section of the fans have called for Marsch to be sacked after a poor run of results has seen the club slip to 15th in the Premier League table, just one point out of the bottom three, but Marsch has remained insistent that the performances have been getting better each week. He believes the team deserved more from the Aston Villa defeat and said the Brentford game was the best-polished performance he has seen since he has been at the club.

Whatever the fans think of the performances, the club must be buying into Marsch’s style and believe in his comments otherwise they wouldn’t be pumping money into buying the players he clearly believes will take the club to the next level.
