Whilst the transfer window has officially slammed shut, that doesn’t mean the action has to stop.
Clubs are still allowed to sign players who are out of contract, and that’s probably why the Yorkshire Evening Post decided to run a story today listing a few of the free agents that Leeds should be taking an interest in.
Surprisingly enough, even though United fans spent the whole summer asking for one, they only listed one centre-back in their piece, 34-year-old Wales captain Ashley Williams. There were other defenders on the list too, most notably Premier League winner Danny Simpson.
Whilst it’s probably a little bit foolish to start getting our hopes up that we might actually be signing any of these players, especially given that Marcelo Bielsa likes to operate with a small squad, it’s still interesting to know what’s out there. You never know if the injury gods may strike down up the squad like they did last season, then we might have to bring in some reinforcements.
What did the Leeds fans make of the list?
Hutton, Williams as back up wouldn't go amiss

Depending on wages I’d take Williams and Hooper. But let’s be honest. We won’t sign anyone now even if it’s free. Maybe someone in January but we have our squad

Gary Hooper, only been trying for last 20 years ????

Simpson or Hutton. Wouldn't go anywhere near Williams, these last few years of his career have been woeful!

Height is a massive problem especially when things get tough in the championship we have no aerial threat from corners offense or defensively

Although these fans looked as if they wanted to do the reporters work for them.
Coincidentally, doing a "whatever happened to" search last night, I discovered Ross McCormack was now a free agent. What the heck happened to him? He'll only be 33 on Sunday.

Surprised Wilf Bony not on the list. Wages dependant I’d take him.
