Academy talent signs professional contract

|

As reported on the official Leeds United website this evening, youth academy talent Connor Fergusson has signed his first professional contract at Leeds.

The club announced that the 18 year old full back penned a two and a half year deal, which will see him join up with the senior squad through to the summer of 2025.

Connor Ferguson plays at left back – a position which has been well-documented as a problem area for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Ferguson has made a total of 32 appearances for the Leeds United under 18s squad, registering three assists from his left back position [via Transfermarkt].

After putting pen to paper on his new deal, the young defender spoke with the club’s website, detailing how pleased and excited he is about securing his first senior contract.

“I’m really happy having been here from a young age and now I’ve got this deal, I want to push on. I’ve loved every step of the way so far, it’s been challenging in a good way and that has helped progress me as a player.”

“I’ve been playing regularly for the Under-18s and now the next step is to try and push on and break into the Under-23s side.”

Its great to see his ambition, and surely he’ll get some game time in Leeds Under 23 side over the coming months. We’ll be eager to see how he progresses, and fingers crossed we have a future first team left back on our hands.
