A few Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after LUFC Data revealed that Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites have kept more clean sheets than any other English professional league side this season.
Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town saw United keep our 17th shut out of the league season, with Kiko Casilla boasting 15 to his name over 35 outings and Illan Meslier yet to be beaten after two second-tier appearances.
Meslier claiming clean sheets against Hull City in his Championship debut and then against the Terriers over the weekend helped the club to stretch a five-game run in the league without conceding a goal.
We last allowed an opposing side to score against us in February’s 1-1 draw with Brentford, more than eight and a half hours of football ago thanks to beating Bristol City, Reading and Middlesbrough 1-0 before the 4-0 trouncing of Hull and Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield.
Does our defensive record go under the radar?
Yes
No
Runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool – who could clinch the title this weekend without even kicking a ball – have kept the most clean sheets in the top-flight with 12, while Oxford United and Peterborough lead League One with 15 each and Exeter City top League Two with 15 shut outs.
Some fans have been reacting on social media to our defensive record by reflecting on Neil Warnock’s recent comments, having told EFL on Quest via quotes by YorkshireLive: “I think that has probably been their weakness at times, clean sheets.
“They have been sloppy at times. But the league is such now, that they had a bad spell, have come back and are now cruising again. They have got five wins on the trot and they look unstoppable again.”

Didnt Cardiff start off our bad run last time? Then we lost to Fulham too. These two games are massive

Have to break the bank on White for next season. The lads have been fantastic this season, but I fear a step up might be too much for a Coops/Berra partnership. I’m sure we have someone in mind if not White though
