Leeds are almost in touching distance of the Premier League for the first time in 16 years. An incredible achievement for everyone connected with the club.

Yesterday’s 1-0 victory against Swansea City will be stapled into the history of the Whites, with the scenes following Pablo Hernandez’s 89th-minute strike etched into the memories of the Elland Road faithful for years to come, even if they weren’t able to see it in person.

Defensively, Leeds were superb. They through themselves in front of shots and made a nuisance of themselves in front of the Swans’ attacking frontline, which some didn’t recognise due to glorious events at the other end of the pitch.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were patient and got their reward when it mattered most. But this all started from the back, particularly through Ben White.

The 22-year-old illustrated by the fans want to keep him for next season. A player with his talent and mindset will be essential if they want to retain their Premier League status, if they make it.

During the encounter at the Liberty Stadium, White managed to make four interceptions, three clearances, won six out of his nine duels and accumulated a pass success rate of 81%, as per Sofascore. A solid performance all round from the Brighton loanee.

It would be a huge boost for Marcelo Bielsa if he managed to retain White’s services, and it would send a clear message to the rest of the teams if he managed to do so.
