While football supporters’ attention is primarily focused on proceedings in Russia, with the World Cup, the summer does represent an exciting time for club football. Following the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds supporters can look forward to welcoming new arrivals to the club, the latest of which could prove to be Boaz Myhill.

As Football Whispers report, the Welsh goalkeeper is likely to move to Elland Road this summer. Naturally, this signing won’t evoke infectious excitement or palpable hysteria among the Leeds faithful, but it does represent shrewd value for the Whites.

The Welshman has amassed an impressive number of 472 appearances during his career, and his knowledge and experience will be valuable assets for Leeds. The 35-year-old goalkeeper his available on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with West Bromwich Albion, and he could provide the Whites with invaluable competition and an insightful understanding of the game.

If Myhill does complete the move to Elland Road, one can envisage his presence having a positive influence on the progression of Bailey Peacock-Farrell. Felix Wiedwald failed to impress during his first and only season as a Leeds player, and Myhill could be better suited to help Peacock-Farell’s progression and development.

To have a player of Myhill’s experience would be a tremendous boost to Leeds. During his time as a Hull City player, the goalkeeper achieved promotion to the Premier League. Thus, he is aware and accustomed to the requirements and the pressure that is associated with a promotion charge. He has also amassed considerable Premier League experience with both Hull and West Brom, further reinforcing his functionality to Leeds.
