Youngster departs to MK Dons

Leeds United’s Under 21’s forward Max Dean completes a permanent switch to League One side, MK Dons.

The 18-year-old has today linked up with former U21s boss Mark Jackson who was recently appointed as the League One side’s head coach. The pair have known each other for a long time with the young forward an ever-present in Jackson’s U21s Leeds side over the past two seasons.

Announced on the club’s official website this evening, a club statement read “We would like to thank Max for his efforts and outstanding attitude during his time at the club and we wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Max Dean leaves the club having failed to make the breakthrough into the first team set-up, after signing his first professional contract with the club in March 2021. However, Dean has been a regular in the under-21s side this term and has scored four goals in five league appearances, including a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over Newcastle United in November 2022.

He was always a player with good ability and he certainly has an eye for goal, unfortunately, he never made the breakthrough into the first team like Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville. He leaves the Whites having netted five goals in 14 matches for the under-18s, and a further 16 goals in 38 outings for the under-23s.
