Why the stats don’t do Leeds ace justice

There’s been plenty of talk about the turnaround our players have undergone this season under Marcelo Bielsa and rightly so.

A manager of obvious talent and massive stature, he has got a bunch of underperforming players and turned them into gladiators in all honesty.

So many of them have improved this season and, clearly, Samuel Saiz is one of them.

Unplayable on his day, he’s been one of our best players and has certainly caused havoc in the final third thanks to our high tempo.

The stats, though, really do not do the job he does justice.

As per whoscored, he’s been our 13th best player so far with just the one assist and a relatively low pass success rate.

Indeed, his numbers just have not been that good but that’s only in those particular factors, we can all see what he brings to our side.

Stats are interesting, but clearly they are not the be all and end all.
