Before the current lull in the 2019/20 football calendar, you didn’t have to look far in the news to see ongoing speculation about the future of Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips. Whether it was Aston Villa or Tottenham Hotspur – his performances since the arrival of manager Marcelo Bielsa have made him an easy goto on a transfer speculation front.
With the player himself addressing his future recently and stating that his only focus at the moment was to help play his part in helping Leeds to promotion, his quotes were well received by fans.
“I want to spend my career at Leeds and see the club doing well in the Premier League. Iโm just enjoying every minute right now.”
Will Phillips Spend His Career At Leeds?
I Hope So
No, He'll Move On Eventually
Especially the line that he wants ‘to spend my career at Leeds’ – that certainly stood out for plenty – but a secondary piece by the EFL themselves also gained a lot of attention amongst those on social media, and it simply became another opportunity to shower the talented 24-year-old with praise.
A leader on the pitch and a role model off it…

In fairness, given his development in recent seasons, it doesn’t take much to send praise his way does it.
I genuinely thought he wasn't good enough at one point. Unbelievable.
What a player he's turning out to be ๐๐

You werenโt alone. When we flogged Ronaldo Viera there were more than a few slagging Phillips off saying it should have been him shifted on instead. I know now that most of Leeds fans on social media donโt know what qualities to look for in an up and coming youth player.

This is why the season can't be voided. He can't go to a prem club without leeds getting a fair chance of going up and him and potentially playing for Leeds in prem.
