Aston Villa are looking in real trouble at the moment and I think, as ruthless as it sounds, we need to try and strike.

There’s a real element of our plight around their club all of a sudden and with them now struggling financially, it would seem as though many of their players might be available to sign.

With that said, then, I think we should get after Mile Jedinak.

What have we lacked in recent seasons? Toughness and fight. Certainly, last season we really struggled when the going got tough and so we need more bite in midfield.

Kyle Bartley, if he comes, would add that to the defence whilst Adam Forshaw has brought some of that to the midfield.

We need more, though, and the Australian, I think, would add some physicality.

Villa signed him to do just that and he knows what it takes to get in a scrap and emerge victorious.

I’m all for us playing nice football but we always have had an edge in our most successful teams – Jedinak would help rediscover that.
