‘Who’s been spying’ – These Leeds fans joke about “leaked” Bielsa plan

The English Football Leagues return to action in August, with 72 clubs battling for promotion and survival across a nine-month campaign, but Leeds supporters will be hoping Marcelo Bielsa’s men are the ones standing victorious in the Championship come May.

United’s new campaign will engage with a tough opening day fixture on the road to last season’s Play-Offs hopefuls Bristol City, who saw their chances of a Premier League berth swiped from their clutches amid a late flurry of poor results.

December has thrown up a bit of a challenge for the Whites, too, with Bielsa’s Elland Road natives scheduled to face each of last season’s relegated Premier League sides Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City and Fulham in the space of three weeks.

Some United supporters on Twitter, though, have been sharing laughs over a “leaked” schedule set out by Bielsa ahead of the new term, although the ‘leak’ is clearly a bit of fun.

It suggested the boss has set out plans for pre-season training, where the first-team will do nothing but running in each of the sessions.

Our Argentine gaffer has been known for his intensive methods to get his sides working to their best, with ‘killer ball’ one of his often-used training regimes, where the squad play an 11 v 11 game with the strict purpose of running as much as possible.

Pontus Jansson even revealed earlier in the year that he would often feel tired going into matches because of the intensive work undergone at Thorp Arch, but Bielsa’s philosophy was: “If you are tired, then you should train even harder to make it better.”

With tactics like that, it’s no surprise it was joked that his pre-season schedule would be run, run, run.

Here’s some of the best reactions from the Elland Road faithful regarding the ‘leak’…
