Who Will Join McAllister At Leeds?

Following the announcement that Gary McAllister is to re-join the club in a managerial role has fuelled speculation over just who will become the clubs assistant manager.

The former Leeds captain signed a deal until the summer to takeover from the now gone and soon to be forgotten Dennis Wise, who was followed out of the door by his assistant Dave Bassett and John Gannon leaving a number of coaching jobs available.

Early speculation has suggested that McAllister’s first bit of business will be to make a move for former Leeds United midfielder Gary Speed, contracted to Bolton but on loan at Sheffield United following his resignation from coaching duties. It won’t be easy however to find an assistant manager, as the new boss admitted himself whilst explaining that the Whites transfer dealings are over for this month.:

“There are only a couple of days left, but we’ve got enough players here to win matches,” he said.

“The guys I’d like to bring to Leeds United are in jobs. I’m making headway in bringing someone in to assist me.”

Another suggestion, coming from the Vital Leeds forums and currently more popular than Gary Speed, would be a return to the club for Lucas Radabe, who retired from playing in 2005.

I’d quite like to throw another name into the hat, and I must stress pure speculation that following time spent playing together, could McAllister move for another professional footballer in Norwich City striker/defender Dion Dublin? Perhaps not as crazy a thought as some may say it is!
