This was always going to get some disapproving clucks; I just knew it.

It’s no secret that Leeds have struggled to put teams away recently, despite their dominance on the stat sheet. With Marcelo Bielsa himself saying that it’s something that is holding the club back somewhat. However, it gets rather worse when you take a look at this statistic.

It shows that Leeds United are amongst one of the best teams in all of Europe when it comes to creating chances, at a rate that puts them level with Liverpool and almost as high as Manchester City. Now when you consider how ruthless they can be when it comes to taking their opportunities, it really does make Leeds’ problem of not being able to find the net a rather peculiar one.

So how did Leeds fans react when they saw these figures? Well, it’s fair to say that they weren’t best pleased. Whilst Leeds might be at the top of the league for now, it looks like that isn’t enough to keep these fans calm.

As ever, credit goes to @LUFCDATA for their fabulous work in keeping track of these things and doing more research that most of us are capable of.

  • Up to the end of September last season Roofe had the princely total of 1 goal at Elland Road . The difference was that other players were getting goals so it is grossly unfair to point the finger at Bamford . We are top of the League and a lot of that is down to the work that Bamford has put in and once he gets one goal at ER and gets that monkey off his back I think we will see a big difference.
