Leeds United are set to come back with another bid, believed to be around the €40m mark for Otávio, as reported by A Bola.

After having a €30m bid rejected in the past few days it seems like they will up the ante in a bid to bring the attacking midfielder to Elland Road.  It is believed Leeds are not the only English club tracking the 27 year old, but the Yorkshire club are the ones that are ‘the most committed to convincing him to join the Premier League’.

Otávio Edmilson da Silva Monteiro or Otávio for short, joined Porto in 2014 as a free agent and signed a five year deal with a buyout clause of €50m.  After a series of loan spells he eventually made his competitive debut for Porto in August 2016 in a 3-1 loss to Rio Ave.  In his second season he won the Portuguese League title, contributing 2 goals in 15 appearances, however he was sidelined for most of the campaign through injury.

During the 2019/20 season he made 48 appearances, again scoring 2 goals to help Porto win the Double, and as a result, he was included in the league’s Best XI.

He was selected for the Brazil U20 side by Alexandre Gallo, but later became a Portuguese citizen in March 2021 and in August that year he was selected for the Portuguese National team for the World Cup qualifiers against The Republic of Ireland and Azerbaijan and also for a friendly against Qatar.  He made his debut against the latter, scoring in a 3–1 win.

He has made over 150 appearances for Porto scoring 14 goals, and 7 appearances for Portugal scoring twice.

Leeds will be hoping to convince Otávio to switch to England and the Premier League and become Jesse Marsch’ fourth summer signing after Brendan Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca all put pen to paper.  It has been a very active transfer window so far, and the fans will be excited to see what their team will look like for their season opener against Wolves on August 6th.
