Leeds United’s long wait for a penalty in competitive action is finally over – well, if you tilt your head and look at it from a certain perspective.

With the first team group and some youngster celebrating a return to winning ways last Saturday as Elland Road played hosts to Bristol City, manager Marcelo Bielsa’s boys bounced back from West Bromwich Albion disappointment ahead of the November international break to take a 2-0 victory over Bristol City and we now go into tonight’s clash on home soil against Reading with renewed optimism.

Our Under 23 side also had a game to focus on yesterday, and they took a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United with a brace coming from Tyler Roberts and a solo effort from Kun Temenuzhkov.

Roberts opened the scoring from 12 yards as Jack Harrison actually won a penalty in the game!

The decision of the matchday referee – given we have to go back to October 14, 2017 before we were last awarded a spot-kick – was greeted warmly and with a fair amount of sarcasm from fans following the game on social media.

One later this evening would do the trick nicely and square the circle back to Reading.
