Some Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after the Whites’ Under 23s were hammered 7-1 by Derby County in the Premier League Cup.
The Rams hit four goals within the opening 29 minutes on Tuesday night as they stormed into a commanding lead, which knocked the air out of our lungs in a merciless exhibition.
Derby hit their first on 11 minutes, as Louie Sibley made the host’s early pressure count when he smashed home from close range after we failed to clear the danger.
Sibley caused the Whites’ backline issues throughout the game, and regularly forced Kamil Miazek into action to try and keep the scoreline respectable, but his efforts were to no avail.
The Rams’ pressure proved too much and made Miazek’s net ripple for a second time on 17 minutes and again in the 22nd, before Jahmal Hector-Ingram forced the Polish 23-year-old to pick the ball out of his goal for the fourth time before the break.
Hector-Ingram’s effort was a hammer blow to any hopes of a Whites comeback, as the attack began from their own byline and went the length of the pitch.
There would be no second-half comeback, either, as Derby put further distance between themselves and an off-the-pace Leeds side with goals in the 61st, 69th and 79th minutes.
Leeds fans in attendance were given some reason to cheer late on when Josh Galloway netted a stoppage-time consolation effort.
Where do we need to improve in January?
Goalkeeper
Defence
Midfield
Forwards
The result has seen some Leeds fans take to social media to share their thoughts…
So Derby are focusing on the PL Cup this season instead of the actual league? Makes sense now ???? #lufc

What is going on with the 23s this year I took them at 9/2 for a win and thought what’s up with sky bet and then this have we outgrown our youth potential
