Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to a bold claim by former Aston Villa and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino in his column for The Times where he claimed the Whites would be ‘ripped to pieces’ in the Premier League.
Cascarino likened what he believes would be Leeds best chances of doing well in England’s top-flight to the performances displayed by Fulham since the Cottagers earned promotion from the Championship last season.
The London outfit have easily been one of the worst teams in the Premier League this season, and spent a lot of money in the summer, despite storming to promotion in the Play-Offs with some of the best-attacking football seen in the second-tier after Christmas.
Leeds, themselves, are not currently known for their recruitment and only managed to add Kiko Casilla to the first-team in January despite being linked with numerous wingers.
Cascarino also added that Marcelo Bielsa’s historical record of team’s capitulating mid-season under his control, as he noted: “I like the way that Marcelo Bielsa plays but if Leeds United are promoted to the Premier League, they are going to be like Fulham this year — they would be ripped to pieces.
“The style is fantastic — it is great to watch and it puts lesser sides under immense pressure — but, unless they change a few things, Leeds would be smashed to pieces by top teams.”
The former Aston Villa and Chelsea striker’s words caught the eye of a lot of Leeds fans…
Can we just get there first?

All depends on what recruitment we might do over the summer. Until such time, I won’t give a second thought to what Tony Cascarino says. Has he had a lot of success as a coach btw?????

Does Tony Cascarino suffer from premature ejaculation? We’ve got to get there first ????

Every style of play comes with risks and benefits. I guess we will have to develop that style further.

what a strange thing to say!. we would have new recruitment, a tinkering and change of style would all follow. every team would be stuffed going up without investment. more anti leeds rhetoric.

This shows the level of his intelligence. I’d like to think it wouldn’t be this level of personal in the prem. Higher level additions that can play in his system. We’re world’s away as it stands.

Played for Millwall; says it all about his intelligence.

As if Bielsa wouldn’t a) strengthen and b) adapt our style if we go up. He’s not a bright bloke. He’s as bad as Stuart Pearce for not being able to articulate himself effectively.

Let’s cross that bridge if we arrive to it
