Leeds United’s capture of former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla during the January transfer window certainly raised spirits and a number of eyebrows and the 32-year-old has raised the eyebrows even further with a recent comment to the press.
Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay, the Spaniard explained that winning promotion with the club into the Premier League would be more meaningful than his experience of winning the Champions League.
Thought this was quite a rare comment – Kiko Casilla saying promotion with Leeds this season would matter more to him than his Champions League medals at Real Madrid:https://t.co/Z55HA0DJCG

A massive claim and one that will only help the goalkeeper further warm to the Elland Road faithful and given his performances for us so far, it’s not like he needs any help on that score.
Taking to social media to react to his choice of words, fans were rightly delighted and absolutely pleased to see that he clearly valued playing his own part in our promotion push rather than simply being a squad member when medals are lifted.
100% agree…

I like him. I can see that he's genuinely connecting with the fans. He was having some quality banter with the Kop end yesterday
