Reports on Saturday suggested that Leeds United fans may soon see an end to the constant Jack Clarke speculation that has been doing the rounds on the summer transfer rumour mill when it came to a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The claim from the Express, as linked below, said that both clubs were now close to agreeing a £15million fee and that the deal would see the talented 18-year-old return to Elland Road for 2019/20 on a season long loan deal.
In some ways, the best of both worlds if we have to lose his talents.
But this is the summer and this is the rumour mill and come Sunday the Sun journalist Alan Nixon effectively rubbished the Express report and claimed that both clubs had in fact agreed an £8.5million fee that could rise to £13million.
“SPURS. Jack Clarke thing should happen from LEEDS this week. 8.5 plus extras up to around 13. Fair enough …”
I guess both fees are ultimately sort of similar, but this is exactly why fans should never get carried away at this time of the year as it’s not unknown for two different outlets to claim ‘exclusives’ on two completely contradictory stories.
8.5 million for Jack Clarke is a disgrace, why are we the only club who sell there youngsters for Peanuts ? @andrearadri
