Tuesday evening’s Champions League Semi-Final clash between Liverpool and Barcelona did carry an interest for Leeds United fans – James Milner – but eagle-eyes fans also focused in on the quick thinking Trent Alexander-Arnold and the role he played in one of the goals on the night.
The highly rated 20-year-old whipped in a quick corner kick that caught Barcelona knapping, and BBC Match of the Day host Gary Lineker couldn’t let it go without giving it a comment on social media.
One of the cleverest, cheekiest, most brilliant bits of football I’ve witnessed… from the 20 year old @trentaa98 👏👏 pic.twitter.com/JRVqhbx44Y

With Leeds United having their moments in the media this year, one of the most recent was the game against Aston Villa where Tyler Roberts slowed and looked to be about to put the ball out of play, but he clipped it to Mats Klich who went on to score – long story short as we all know it, manager Marcelo Bielsa instructed the team to let Villa equalise.
Plenty of fans didn’t see a difference with Alexander-Arnold’s behaviour as he was walking away from the ball, suggesting someone else would take it, before quickly reversing and knocking it in.
It’s not what we do in this country???? #lufc

Great bit of trickery but have to think If that had been done by an @LUFC player they’d of been vilified by the media, the goal disallowed, made to retake take the corner and probably docked points

What a difference a week makes – Leeds do it and all hell is let loose, Liverpool do it and it's clelebrated as a masterclass of innovation.

If that was Leeds we’d be fined for unsporting behaviour and docked 12 points

The look on the face of Messi ????
"Was that bad sportsmanship? Are we playing Leeds? Im confused ????"
— Big Badger (@rog3000) May 8, 2019
If this was Leeds they'd be complaining that we tricked them unfairly because they thought he wasn't going to take it.

Good job its not a leeds player trying this. The corrupt efl & fa would have our pants down for deception and not sporting towards another ????????
— D Whitaker (@DWhitaker16) May 8, 2019
And if Pablo Hernandez had done it Sky/Talksport would be banging the unsportsmanlike conduct drum.

Great that but can’t help thinking if we swapped Liverpool for Leeds, Ayling for Terence Trent Darby, that goal would have been ruled out, corner retaken, Barca break out and score, ends 4-4 and we’re out on away goals. That would be so Leeds ???????? #lufc https://t.co/AV6txXiMvO

So #lufc score a goal through “deception” of not kicking ball out and theres uproar…. #lfc may go on to win one of the biggest tournaments in football through something thats “clever” and “cheeky” and no one bats an eye…. the world is just negative Leeds….. pisses me off https://t.co/top493rlLi

If @LUFC would have done this @elf would have penalised us for unsportsmanlike conduct and ordered a replay #lufc https://t.co/av04nEnaTD

But @official_tyro can’t creep down the wing without everyone crying about it?? ???? #LUFC https://t.co/bZO2r60gQS
