Many Leeds fans have been reacting on social media after one supporter slammed the Mirror for suggesting Marcelo Bielsa has been an £8million gamble.
The newspaper noted that the Argentine had been brought to West Yorkshire on a £4million-a-season contract, which ate up a large proportion of our transfer budget, and the board’s decision does not look like it will return automatic promotion.
Our defeats over the Easter weekend also got a mention, as they left our hopes of a top-two finish hanging in the balance while the players looked exhausted, after reaping the rewards of the boss’ appointment for much of the season.
One supporter, though, took note of the suggestion that Bielsa was a gamble which looks set to backfire, by noting that we are actually 23 points better off than we were a year ago, despite hardly changing the squad on offer.
The players also regularly claim they have seen vast improvements in their own abilities since working with Bielsa, and that is a stunning foundation to lay inside your first year in a job that often has a short tenure.
This is what Leeds fans had to say about it…
23 points more than last season , 20% improvement in most players , attractive football , BOUGHT our ground back , financially stable ,passionate chairman ????????????????????????????

This is bang on the money. Funny how every other club hates leeds and wants to see us fail. With this guy at the helm we will be back. No doubt about it.

I just hope we keep him and build from here, whether that’s in the PL or the Championship.

You can see the passion in his face but like so many managers they aren’t the ones on the pitch!!!

Daily Mirror always has been and always will be no more than a Man United fanzine, so they take any opportunity to revel in any disappointment LUFC suffer. It’s not over yet, not by a long chalk. Team for play offs. KC, LA, PJ, LC, LD, KP, MK, PH, TR, JC, KR. Set up as WBA (h)

The only failure this season was not sealing the Daniel James deal in January. He would of got us over the line & his value sky rocketed since then! Our injury list hasn’t helped this season, coupled with small squad & let’s not forget the inept reffing time & time again
