Lots of Leeds United fans have been lauding the first-team following reports by The Athletic that they have agreed to measures being introduced to limit their salaries amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It is claimed that the club are in talks with the players over deferring some of their wages for the immediate future, in order to offset the financial impact the coronavirus crisis is causing some.

Talks were held on Tuesday between senior players and Chief Executive Angus Kinnear and Director of Football Victor Orta, while players are believed to have reacted positively to the proposal of deferring payments until a later date.

A cap in the region of £6,000-per-week was also discussed, which would come in at half the average wage for the Championship and represent a sizable reduction for some of the Elland Road regulars like Patrick Bamford, Helder Costa, Kiko Casilla, who earn £35k-p/w, £32.5k-p/w and £32.1k-p/w respectively.

Official confirmation of any measures is expected to come before the end of the week, while a wage deferral would also be implemented on Marcelo Bielsa and his backroom team.
