‘We literally played them off the park’: Rival star boasts Leeds’ weaknesses after Norwich defeat

|

Leeds United lost the top spot in the Championship at the weekend to Norwich, and the Canaries’ goalkeeper Tim Krul has been quoted by Leeds Live, stating how intensified their pre-match preparations were in order to get one over the Whites.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men had snatched all three points at Carrow Road earlier in the season with a 3-0 win, but Norwich did not feel justice was dealt with the result according to Krul.

As such, the Canaries stepped up their efforts to get revenge at the weekend and happened to do so, with the hype from training boiling over on a few occasions, as the goalkeeper rushed out of the box and collided with Tyler Roberts before an altercation with Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe.

In a moment resembling Steven Gerrard’s infamous “we don’t let this slip” claim, Krul has even stated that “we’re not losing” as Norwich look to secure their return to the top flight.

“In the home game [vs Leeds in August] we literally played them off the park for 30 minutes and conceded soft goals,” he said.

“Leading up to this game we said it – the hype is massive but they are not unbeatable, and I think that’s what the manager made clear: respect them, be humble, but hit them because they are not Barcelona.

“We’re not losing [another match] and the game we did last lose was a fluke, I think against Derby when the lights went out. And that’s the one in 18.

“It’s 16 games left and a massive statement, but a lot of points still to play for. Anyway, we can look at ourselves now.”
