They may not have played themselves, but Friday 17th July 2020 is a date that everyone associated with Leeds United will surely remember forever.
After 16 long years away, the Whites’ return to the promised land of the Premier League was finally confirmed, after West Brom suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Huddersfield.
That result means that the Baggies can no longer catch Leeds in the Championship table, and with only Brentford left who can mathematically do that, one of those two coveted automatic promotion spots is now officially theirs.
Is Marcelo Bielsa Leeds' best ever manager?YesNo |
It has been an incredible journey for Leeds since they slipped out of the top-flight back in 2004, with so many low points, from the years spent in League One and administration, to the play-off heartache of just last season.
This time around however, there will be no disappointment for those of a Leeds association, and taking to Twitter to react to confirmation of their long-awaited return to the top-flight of English football, plenty of Leeds fans were understandably keen to express their joy at that success.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
Iβm crying here.
