Leeds United boss Neil Warnock is delighted to see Reading heading back towards the Premier League.
Reading look set to put last season`s disappointment of losing in the play-off final to Swansea City behind them as they charge towards the Premier League.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, “I really want them to go up. For me they are the best side in the league. I am really pleased for Brian and I do want them to go up.”
They have won eleven of their last thirteen games, including a crucial win at fellow automatic promotion hopefuls West Ham United last weekend.
Reading won 4-2 at Upton Park to move four points clear of the hammers and a win over Leeds on Friday would see them move to the top of the championship table for the first time this season.
The royals have three of Neil Warnock`s former players at Queens Park Rangers playing a key part in their push towards promotion and he is delighted to see the players who all played their part in helping Rangers secure their promotion as champions from the championship last season. “I pleaded with him to take Kasper Gorkks when Kasper was talking to Southampton. He also took Matthew Connolly and Mikele Leigertwood off me, they are good championship players and I am really pleased they are doing well because they are great lads.
When you then put in players like Jimmy Kebe, Jobi McAnuff and Jason Roberts and Noel Hunt they have got a very good side,”added Warnock.
Reading also have a former Leeds favourite in their ranks in Ian Harte.
Harte made almost 300 appearances for Leeds during nine years in the first team, having come through the academy.
The defender scored 41 goals during his time at Elland Road has he earned a reputation has a dead ball specialist.
Harte had netted just once for Reading all season before netting in their last two games against Blackpool and West Ham.
Warnock will be looking to put his admiration for Reading aside at the Madejski Stadium on Friday has he plans their downfall with Leeds.
