The Oakwood Owls coach Rod Christopher has announced the official start date for the long awaited Youth Football Academy in the East Leeds area.

The Focus Football academy open day will take place on Monday 7th January 2008, then the following week (14th) will see it’s very first coaching & educational session at Fearnville LC, between 6.30-8.30pm. A small weekly charge of £2 per player will help cover coaching fees and equipment costs.

Each of the eventual 4 FFA weekly sessions are open to up to 16 Leeds city-wide 14-17 year olds aim to improve player attitude, fitness levels and further improve technical abilityin addition to regular competitive group matches. The FFA Academies will run for an initial 12 months, adding 3 further sessions over the period and will hold strong links with a number of professional league clubs.

Former Bradford City defender Ces Podd is an avid supporter of this academy idea and will visit the groups regularly to watch over the talent on show!

There will also be regular invited scout visits, as well as indoor football education sessions for all of our participants. Players can demonstrate an interest by contacting Rod Christopher at; rodchristopher@hotmail.co.uk for further information on academy requirements.
