The Oakwood Owls went goal-crazy on Friday evening with an 11-2 victory against Middleton Massive in the Soccer City Premier League.
As always team manager Rod Christopher gives us the lowdown:

Match Report:

The Owls got back to winning ways in spectacular style on Friday, hitting Middleton for 11 in their latest Soccer City Premier league match. Last weeks defeat at the hands of Leeds United Youth seemed to help fire the boys up for this one, as performance levels upped a notch, playing some quite outstanding 5-a-side football.

Goals were shared between the squad, with captain Rodley, Coldwell and Kinghorn all bagging braces in a fast and furious, but rather one sided game. Goal of the match came from man of the match Coldwell, after his mazy dribble through the entire Middleton side ended with a rasping right foot finish on 13 minutes. There were also fantastic finishes by Owino and Kinghorn. Middleton seemed to have no answer to the Owls’ quick pass and move game today and their heads seemed to go down early, as the enormity of their task sunk in.

Oakwood’s slick team play carved them apart time after time, heading the shots at goal ratio at 19 – 5. The victory moves the Owls up 3 places into 6th place in the table, with still 24 points to play for.

Rod’s Views:

‘I told the lads that I thought today’s game was their best performance since joining the league. Every player seemed to want the points so badly today and all of their attitudes were spot on for the full 25 minutes. They’re all delighted to get back to winning ways again and all are oozing confidence right now. I really hope we can continue this good form over the coming weeks. It was a real a joy to watch these intelligent thinking young players put on such a great show of football here today.

I feel very honoured to have this squad playing for me week in week out and I intend to do my utmost to keep them all together.

They just seem to be getting better and stronger as a team for this experience & it really bodes well for our groups future here, as well as for their own development as young people in football.’
