Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan has suggested that Leeds United might well have agreed a deal with Daniel James in the ‘backroom’ over a summer switch to the club.

The Whites came so close to signing James in the January window, of course, and was at the club ready to confirm the deal on Deadline Day.

However, Swansea pulled the plug on it and the deal since has only been spoken about rather than had any reignition.

Even so, Whelan is of the opinion that we might have agreed a deal to bring him in – but we should not get too excited just yet.

Whilst many of us want to see him back at the club and actually our player, such suggestions cannot be read into too much.

It’ll be easy to get excited by Whelan’s notion but, as we have seen, until the ink is dried on the contract nothing is certain.

  • Get real ,James will not sign for you lot .He is too good a player to join Leeds .You had your chance in January but your owner would not part with the cash too buy him ,wanted to pay a deposit and the rest over four years .Why would he move to a club that if promoted will be back in the championship the following year .Huddersfield are a stronger side than Leeds .

  • He under contract and after what Leeds said after it fell apart in jan why would Swansea want to sell to Leeds especially when bigger clubs are interested ?
