Plenty of Leeds United fans showered the football club with praise after the club’s academy secured category one status, handed to them by the Premier League.
Thorp Arch has played host to one of the country’s most productive and successful junior setups since majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani bought the club in 2017.
This opens the door for the club to make further revenue, and now have the chance of entering the Leasing.com Trophy and can also participate in European competitions.
Will Leeds move forward as a club with an upgraded academy?
Yes
No
The Athletic’s Phil Hay revealed that the club’s academy would be granted it’s category one status before it was officially announced by the club on Tuesday.
Unsurprisingly, supporters were full of praise for the club and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described it as “top quality management”, while another acknowledged that “this was Orta’s dream”.
Great news. This was Ortas dream from the start wasnβt it? To have a steady stream of youth players coming through the racks but also to sell on for a profit to.
