We can all breathe a big sigh of relief. It appears as though one of the summers longest running transfer rumours is set to be over, so we can all go about our lives and move on to the next one that’s going to consume us during every waking hour. And yes I am talking about Kalvin Phillips’ potential move to Villa.
With Sky Sports reporting that Spurs were getting ever closer to signing the 18-year-old, with many of the transfer permutations sorted out, including a fee rumoured to be in the region of £8.5m, Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the fallout.
However, they couldn’t come to an agreement about whether or not this was a good deal for the club. £8.5m isn’t exactly a great fee when you look at how much some clubs are paying for talent of a similar age, like Ryan Sessegnon being valued at £25m by Spurs, despite his recent bad season.
Some seem to think that the deal isn’t enough for someone with his potential and so many years ahead of him. Whilst some don’t seem to be all that bothered at all about him leaving, saying it’s just part and parcel of being a Championship club now.
I think there’s too much hype round the lad I’m not bothered to be fair

Wow we really do still have a small club mentality when players at Bristol c much smaller club are going for 12m and aren’t half the same player Clarke is.

While we’re in championship, get used to it…surprised we’ve kept KP so far. The single biggest reason I wanted promotion is to stop seeing our talent flourish elsewhere… But when we are back, we have a lot of talent ready to step up due to our excellent academy.

People forget that 8.5m is a big fee for a young lad in his debut season and he isn’t going to be the catalyst for us going up this season imo, spurs have brought for the future, something we no longer want to do

Peanuts for our young talent. Pocchetino wants the lad and people are questioning if he’s even that good???? Dosent sign too many duds does he

Spurs are only buying potential but there’s a lot of potential in Jack Clarke! I can see why #LUFC are cashing in but this figure seems way to low! I presume we’d still be looking to loan him back which makes good business – however I hope this stops others been sold!! ???? #alaw

Not to bothered would have preferred him to stay but I’m only interested in the players that are at the club at the beginning of the season..

Should be double that for him. Even given Dan James value which is sort of a benchmark it’s too low.
