We can all breathe a big sigh of relief. It appears as though one of the summers longest running transfer rumours is set to be over, so we can all go about our lives and move on to the next one that’s going to consume us during every waking hour. And yes I am talking about Kalvin Phillips’ potential move to Villa.

With Sky Sports reporting that Spurs were getting ever closer to signing the 18-year-old, with many of the transfer permutations sorted out, including a fee rumoured to be in the region of £8.5m, Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the fallout.

However, they couldn’t come to an agreement about whether or not this was a good deal for the club. £8.5m isn’t exactly a great fee when you look at how much some clubs are paying for talent of a similar age, like Ryan Sessegnon being valued at £25m by Spurs, despite his recent bad season.

Some seem to think that the deal isn’t enough for someone with his potential and so many years ahead of him. Whilst some don’t seem to be all that bothered at all about him leaving, saying it’s just part and parcel of being a Championship club now.

  • I will put my 2cents worth in, as a new comer to Vital Leeds, but not to Leeds United, LUFC has always been in my heart, after all i was born in Harrogate in the forties, and my dad played for Harrogate town, and during that time i had the pleasure of meeting Don Revie and his team when they had a pre-season match against Harrogate Town. I have been following the media re: the young player Jack Clarke, and i do think the transfer fee is a little bit like pocket money! My concern is a club like Spurs wouldn`t blink at that fee and the young guy doesn`t quite fit in he will be lost in the corridors of Spurs F.C. L.U.F.C. has got to get into the Premier League at the of next season! So why get rid of good talent? By the way i live in the antipodes and have lived here for 47 years, but have always had L.U. at heart.
