Paul Heckingbottom has revealed that he is willing to give Hadi Sacko a chance to salvage his career at the club.

Despite signing on a permanent basis from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, we saw very little of the wide man under previous gaffer Thomas Christiansen, but it seems the new boss is allowing all our players to start afresh.

Asked why the Frenchman had been selected to start on the bench in recent games, Hecks was quoted by Leeds Live as saying:

“He`s (Sacko) impressed that`s why he was in there. I`ll judge people on what I see and that`s it.”

Sacko`s season is pretty hard to judge. He has started one game in the FA Cup and one game in the Carabao Cup, with no starts coming in the league. For many players, rhythm is key and this season he has not been afforded the time on the pitch to see whether he is playing at the level required to start more games.

Garry Monk rated him highly, but his return of just two goals and four assists in 42 matches last season demonstrates his lack of end-product.

Furthermore, with Pablo Hernandez being favoured in the position under Christiansen, as well as the likes of Pawel Cibicki, Ezgjan Alioski, and even Kemar Roofe on occasion starting ahead of him, Sacko’s chances for starts have been few and far between.

Under a new coach with new ideas, things may turn out differently and to our benefit for the remainder of the season – if he is given the chance.

New poll now live – Is it time to give Sacko a chance to impress at Elland Road?
