Leeds United fans suffered heartbreak on Wednesday evening as we welcomed Derby County to Elland Road looking to complete the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final challenge and book our place at Wembley.

With a narrow 1-0 advantage from the away leg, the game didn’t go our way and despite better dominating the game in the usual manner under manager Marcelo Bielsa, Frank Lampard’s side were just more clinical on the day and we were once again wasteful.

Putting the ball in the back of the net has been an issue for the club all season long and it hasn’t been helped by the injury situation we’ve had to deal with, and it was another of those matches that ultimately turned against us as we fell to a 4-3 aggregate defeat.

What the loss meant to the fans is obvious to all, and whilst Pablo Hernandez and Luke Ayling weren’t the only players to show just how much the defeat meant to them on the pitch as the fulltime whistle blew, the following two images just stood out to me – especially Pablo given the year he’s had for us.

Get Bielsa committed for next season, strengthen over the summer and use this as a foundation to really kick on.
