Alan Thompson has spoken of his desire to get Leeds firing again as he looks set to return to the squad for the league match against Swindon.

Previous boss Dennis Wise, now since departed (hooray?) for Newcastle United sent Thompson out on loan after a period of not playing the former Celtic and Aston Villa midfielder. Thommo had a good spell with League One rivals Hartlepool United, but now has his sights firmly set on helping to rectify Leeds’ current dismal form.

Speaking to the official site, Leedsunited.com Thompson told them:

“It was good at Hartlepool from a few points of view.”

‘I stayed fit. I played seven games in a row, and that was good. I just wanted to get some more fitness, come back, and add to what’s going on here.

“I’m just trying to take that on now. I want to stay fit and get some success at Leeds.”

By the time Thompson was back from Hartlepool, the management changeover was complete and the midfielder can already see the benefits of new boss Gary McAllister:

“There’s new management now and we have to move forward. Training is good and training is bright.

“We used to train as a big group with Dennis, that has been cut down a bit. The numbers are smaller, the quality is there, and it’s bright. It’s as bright as I’ve seen and heads haven’t dropped at all.”
