It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but it’s three points and that’s all you can really ask for.
And after conceding late goals against the likes of Swansea City and Derby County earlier in the year, it’s good to at least see that we can be the ones to score late on every now and then.
Whilst a goal from Patrick Bamford, and a late own goal from Matty Pearson were enough to take home the points, it was one man’s display that really got the fans talking, and not for the first time this season. In fact, he’s being talked about so much that you wonder how he managed to sneak past so many club’s scouts in the summer with performances like this.
I’m of course talking about on-loan defender Ben White, who put in a quite masterful performance, as these numbers demonstrate.
Ben White vs. Luton:
109 touches (most) ????
91/102 successful passes (most) ????
16/21 final third passes
9 ball recoveries (joint-most) ????
9 long ball passes
89% pass acc.
2 interceptions
2 clearances
1 tackle won
1 assist ????Outstanding display and first Championship assist. ???? pic.twitter.com/NZjOiCdD3p

Ben White will be a top Premier League defender in years to come. His positional play, distribution, reading of the game and athleticism is top class. People may laugh but Woodgate was a top, top level centre back in his brief pomp. White is in that bracket #lufc

Who is our Player of the Season so far?
White
Phillips
Hernandez
Casilla
Which really does beg the question of whether or not Leeds will be able to keep hold of him. Even promotion to the Premier League might not be enough to bring him back. Is this a case of ‘enjoy him while we can?’
