‘This is the chosen one’ – Some Leeds fans react to rumoured potential Phillips replacement

The transfer window is now in full swing, and some Leeds supporters have been reacting on Reddit after one user shared an article discussing a potential replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips was one of our most important players as we strived for promotion, but may now look for a move to a top-flight side as AFC Bournemouth, Southampton and Norwich City have all been linked recently.

It is even thought the Cherries are plotting a £15million bid for the English midfielder, having grown impressed by his ability to also slot into central defence if needed.

Should we lose the 23-year-old, though, boss Marcelo Bielsa will need owner and Chairman Andre Radrizzani to sign a suitable replacement, and thus the speculation of a move for Saeid Ezatolahi has emerged.

The £1.35million-rated Iranian spent the recently concluded campaign on loan in the Championship with Reading. However, he made just five appearances for the Royals in all competitions after suffering a groin injury while on international duty.

The article supporters on Reddit have been reacting to was one by Iranian media outlet Tasnim, who were referring to a piece Football League World had put together discussing three players who may be worth pursuing if we lose Phillips.

Ezatolahi was one of those mentioned as his contract at parent side FK Rostov expires on June 30. They also suggested Queens Park Rangers’ Massimo Luongo and Joe Ledley, following his release by Derby County.

But when supporters saw we had been linked with Ezatolahi via an Iranian publication, here’s how some reacted…
